“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?”
Romans 8:35
The love of Christ is genuine. Whenever this love touches a human heart, the person is completely transformed. Christ’s love is celebrated around the world among born-again Christians for this reason. However, we have to analyze ourselves whether we always truly exhibit the His love.
The world is now experiencing chaos and cataclysm. This might be social, political or even naturally occurring. What is the Christian stance in this situation? How should a Christian respond to these? A person who abides in Christ will approach all situations with the love that flows from his heart. Though we are in this world, we are not of this world and our treasures are in heaven. But when certain unfortunate situations arise, we tend to panic, fear and lose heart and find our Godly love dwindling within us.
Having encountered the love of Jesus, we should never let this experience go down, rather we have to exercise that love through the word of God. This Godly love attracts the weary souls to Jesus. Knowing this, the enemy continuously squeezes us to give up bearing this spiritual fruit. If we do not exhibit Christ’s love with our fellow beings, it demeans our proclamation about love.
Being a brilliant theologian, Apostle Paul explains this through his experience. He says nothing can separate us from the love of Christ (Romans 8:39). Christ will never leave us unloved. But the love that is seeded in our hearts undergoes various strenuous trials. Yet, We have to understand that we can never be separated from the love of Christ irrespective of the situation we may be in.
The enemy wants a believer to be separated from the love of Christ so that he/she cannot exhibit that on their fellow beings. Even our flesh may stand against us at times to separate us from His love. But we know that Christ loved us first, and sacrificed himself on the cross before even we knew Him. The Bible says, “Many waters cannot quench love.” (Song of Solomon 8:7) This love is so deep and strong that nothing can extinguish it. When we have this notion in our hearts, we can withstand any situation and continue to bear the fruit of love.
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)
